interview No1

What made you decide that Sealy Japan was the company for you?

I wasn’t focused on any one industry or any particular type of job. My plan was to keep my choices open, and choose the company I thought would best suites me. I only got to know Sealy at this company introduction seminar that I’d randomly signed up for. At the company introduction seminar held at the showroom, there was an opportunity to try out the mattresses, and I was able to feel for myself the high quality of the Sealy products. That’s how it all started. The desire to be able to sell something that I feel is really worth something, something that I’m truly satisfied with, is what led me to this job.

Tell me your position / what you do at Sealy Japan.

I’m mainly in charge of department store sales. But despite my less than one year experience, I am getting a lot of other opportunities, such as attending customers at the showroom and taking care of sales for housing accounts as well. But it’s not all fun and games. In the beginning I was really lost, and everyday was a desperate struggle. This first year seemed to have flown by, and it was filled with many first time experiences. I think the fun in sales I am feeling now, is a result of the struggles and the experiences I gained in this first year.

How is the atmosphere of the company?

It’s a very cheerful workplace. When I goof up or am depressed, my co-workers are always there to cheer me up. People that gives a helping hand during trouble and when in need, are the people I trust with my heart and people I look up to. For the future colleagues that will be joining after me, I would like to be that kind of person.

What do you enjoy most about your work? What is “work” to you?

Real pleasure of work

I find joy in building up the trust with my clients in my own style. In sales, the result of the trust you gain from the clients is reflected directly in the sales figures. Even if the products itself is good, without the trust of the clients in me, the good products will not see light. For me right now, work is something that makes me pursue higher goals and makes me evolve.

What is your dream? And where does the power to pursue your dream come from?

I’d like to gain more experience in sales to become more confident with my work. I’d like to master the usual routines, and challenge lots of different new things. In every experience, there is a moment where you feel the excitement/fun, and I think it’s this feeling that drives us to face another challenge. I’d like to enjoy any kind of experience with a positive attitude, finding some excitement/fun in each.

How do you spend your weekends?

I go out shopping with friends or to dinner… just relaxing.

What are you interested in right now?

I’d like an iphone and a video camera!
