What made you decide that Sealy Japan was the company for you?
The main reason why I joined Sealy Japan was because of my wish“to be a member developing a brand.” I wanted to work for a brand with an unwavering power of products at its basis, with the potential and momentum to have more value added on to the brand. Sealy was the one.
Tell me your position / what you do at Sealy Japan.
“Advertising and promotion” is simply said, but it includes a wide range of tasks. PR-related tasks include writing and delivering news releases, following up on media, proofreading and clipping the articles. Advertising-related tasks would include arranging publishing advertisements and creative direction for ads and others. Marketing-related tasks would be analyzing web logs and researching market trends.
Most of the tasks are little things and completing them is my routine work, but I feel that the variety of tasks helps me to gain comprehensive knowledge.
What was your past career before Sealy Japan?
When I was in university, I joined a volunteer work organized by a venture capital. I became a web site planner as a newly grad, and then worked as a brand consultant supporting various companies with their brand strategies. Someone I worked with then, told me that “Branding is a battle with the company existence at stake”. That made me want to be part of building a brand from the inside, not support them as a consultant from the outside.
How is the atmosphere of the company?
Employee’s average age at Sealy is relatively young, and many members has background in various industries. For that reason, we can build up our brand with unconventional ideas and manners. Retaining our brand dignity, we keep up with the trend of the times flexibly. I think “tradition and innovation”coexist at Sealy.
What do you enjoy most about your work? What is “work” to you?

One of the interesting points of my job is the variety of tasks assigned to me. There were many things I learned while doing jobs outside of my normal tasks, and through this experience, I have come to realize that advertising is just a tool. No matter what department and whichever tasks you engage in, each and every job is an important element in building a brand. Right now, I find excitement in expanding my job scope.
W hat is your dream? And where does the power to pursue your dream come from?
Obtaining licenses and certificates, composing one song a month and making a whole music album in a year, watching 50 films a year, increasing the number of page view of the Sealy website by 20 %... I have lots of dreams within reach! The moderate distance toward these dreams drives me to go achieve them.
How do you spend your weekends?
I often go out with friends for a meal, but I enjoy spending time on my own as well. Sometimes I would spend my time at home drinking alcohol and composing music, or watching movies that I have filmed in the past. Other times, I would go out on my bicycle and read books at a coffee shop, relax by the river side and then go to a public bath. I also enjoy going to live concerts of my favorite musicians, as well as music festivals.
What are you interested in right now?
I’m easily bored and many things catch my eye, but I can say I’m in to iPhone Applications right now. As I got interested in “feng shui (fu-sui)” recently, I check my bearings with the compass installed in my iPhone.
Also, I’m watching films directed by Yasujiro Ozu one bye one. My admiration for Yusaku Matsuda is for life. He is definitely the man of my dreams!
